No kits exist that I'm aware of, outside of just replacing the diaphram.

There was a guy a couple years ago that posted some information regarding having a machine shop build a new valve guide for him. That's really the only wear part besides the diaphram. I suppose you could have the valve and seat re-ground if needed.

Unless you're hooked on originality, get yourself a Tial 46mm. Fully rebuildable.

Oh, and I like your Avatar. You're blessed to have such a beautiful wife.

If you want to test your WG put some compressed air at about 12 to 15 psi into the pressure side of it and listen for the gate to open. If it leaks a lot before it opens it may need to be replaced. You will be able to hear the air escaping around the guide before the valve opens. A little leakage is normal but a lot is not. Maybe the best way to go is the suggestion made by Mark. Keep your old OEM incase you find a purist who only wants OEM parts.

I rebuilt my WG by just replacing the diaphram and I lapped in the valve and seat. Easy to do just be careful when you open it up with the spring compressed.

hi guys, is it possible to get the diaphram from porsche? or do we need to go aftermarket. Checked with a local dealer and there was no part number. Had to replace the whole wastegate. Who can i buy it from, any online shops? Part number too if possible. Is the tial waste gate better? Thanks.

The Tial wastegate is a generic one (it's not specific to the 930/964), cheaper and is rebuildable. But it's not a Porsche part.

Personally, if my wastegate was shot, I'd be fitting the Tial - or a Tial copy.

I think it's the 46mm Tial that you're after, but please check.

Yes, the Tial needs to be 46mm.

Go here for a source of replacement stock Porsche WG diaphrams:

I beg to differ.
It is specific to the 3.3 Turbo exhaust system in that the cooling fins are milled down on opposing sides. Otherwise the fins of a generic Tial wastegate will interfere with the J-pipe when mounted.
Skimping on a wastegate is like a discount on a parachute in that if things go wrong, it can be tragic.
Order the narrow body 46 mm wastegate http://www.tialsport.com/prod_wg_46.htm
