Default Selling Price of 1984 Turbo

Hi All, I purchased my 930 (84) a few years back for $50K CDN, it had only 42,000 original Kilometers and was checked out to be perfect...that being said there was some slow weeping of oil so I took it in and had all the seals replaced along with the clutch (spent just under 10K).

It now has 47,500 kilometers on it and is barely driven, I feel like this car was made to drive so I'm actually considering selling it. It's Black with Tan interior and is 100% original with Collector plates...

Can anybody give me give me there best estimate on what this is worth today

Much appreciated
Bubbs

Very rare to find an all original unmodified european model, post some photos if you can. My guess would be $42,000 U.S. would be a good place to start if its all orginal. Whatever you do dont sell it off cheap quick to some dealer (flipper) before giving your car proper exposure listing it on www.traderonline.com www.hemmings.com www.carsonline.com and www.ebaymotors.com

I've been watching the market closely for a while now, your asking price should really depend on your time frame to sell the car. The vast majority of Ebay cars expire without getting the reserve and those that do declare a 'winner" more often then not the deal falls thru. I guess what I'm trying to say there is that Ebay is not very useful for setting your asking price. I will say that not many cars..unless they are RUF or other specialized 930 ...sell for more then 35K usa . Even these are on the market for several weeks. There are a lot of cars on the market for under 30K that are models earlier then 86. You probably paid 50K when the CAN dollar was worth only 60-70 cents so along with the down trun in the market of these car you need to take the loss from the CAD rise to 97 cents.

Keep the car.

Just a general market note. 2 years ago I was at Barrett Jackson in PB . As I was leaving a 1968 camaro Z28 in good shape hammered down at $109,000 I was surprised at that large a number. Last night I was watching Scottsdale and a Z28 of probably better quality went for $58,000, same year.
we do not function in a market vacuum. Ships all rise in a faworable tide. I have a feeling all markets are down at least 30% from the heights. My advice would be wait until things get a little more optimistic. Good Luck

Thanks everyone for all your thoughts/opinions...to everyone's point I know that market has changed a ton since I bought it, not really wanting to sell, its just a shame that it sits in the garage...

Oh well, life is tough guess I will just have to suck it up and drive it and have some fun

I will post some more pictures soon

930s are going to weather the economic storm better than most cars. We are about another 8-10 years away from these things really jumping in value in my opinion. Kind of like the late 60s 911Ss. Its the iconic silhouette most non Porsche people recognize so it has cache' in the mainstream and a lot of public approval.

The incredible thing is that the more recent turbo's have gotten killed....only $20k between 5yr old cars and 80's 930's. Air cooled cars have held up remarkably well and I would argue that the classic turbo is already on it's way up as a function of it's relative price stability. Good cars trade quickly.....Bubbs, if your car is as clean as you say it is it will trade well and fast.

Good luck!
