Default Looking for RUF transmission parts

I am rebuilding my RUF 5-speed transmission and it seems I need a new ring and pinion. This is the transmission from the Yellowbird (I believe). It's based on a 930 4 speed but with an extra gear out on the end with reverse. As such, the pinion shaft is longer so the 930 part will not fit.

Has anyone got one sitting on a shelf somewhere?

Thanks
Peter

Hey there Peter,

I am not sure if I have one of these still, but I will certainly take a look for you. If I do, it will probably not be cheap, what is the deal with yours? I don't here of too many instances of these breaking, much less wearing out. I would curious to know how yours got damaged.

I will try to get back with you tomorrow , but feel free to contact me in the morning, as well.

Warmest Regards, and hopefully I can help with this.

Mine was as a result of pinion shaft bearing failure. The car makes 500+ ftlbs and it spends a lot of time on the track.

Thanks
Peter

I am pretty sure that I have what you need. It has undergone Cryogenic processing and REM Microfinish for additional strength, as well as less friction. Call the price on this $2500.00 plus shipping.

Could you take some pics and measurements of your original for me though to ensure that this is going to be the right part?

Thanks and let me know if this will help you out.

Warmest Regards,

Peter,
if Eric has the correct part for that kind of money, it's a steal, for some reaseon I doubt it's the correct part. If it is and for whatever reason you are not a buyer, I would be (it being the correct part of course)a potential buyer.

Default Ruf 5-speed ring & pinion

Hi Peter,

I own a Ruf CTR and have recently discussed the availability of these parts with Ruf Germany for another CTR owner. I believe your 5-speed needs a 8/32 set. Apparently there are 4 different versions of the 8/32 and they are all Porsche Motorsport parts still available from Weissach. Approx. cost is euro 2,000.
If you have a Ruf gearbox then the gearbox type number and serial number should help identify which of the four sets is right for you.

Cheers from eastern Ontario,

Paul
