Wanted to check with folks here and determine whether anyone has ever "gotten under the covers" of an early 911/930 factory Recaro sport seat. These are the high-back Recaro buckets which have larger side bolsters on them. I have been told by reputable sources that these seats actually have cutouts in the seat back (just above the shoulder placement) for shoulder harnesses - the cutouts are simply covered over with material. Was just wondering if anyone has ever explored the construction of these seats and discovered this "feature" or not. I hate to tear into my nice factory, leather seats in my 930 to try and discover if this "feature" is truly there or not. Just wondering if anyone has torn into these seats or not. Thanks!
And Happy New Year!

If there are two cutouts covered with leather and you want to keep them looking nice find the center of the cover and cut straight towards each corner from the center hole. Do this as straight as you can and you will end up with four triangle pieces that can be folded back into the hole and secured with glue to make a professional look. The trick is to not cut the last quarter inch of material as you approach the holes so that this little extra material will smooth out the corners.

I'll post the drawings from PET tomorrow. There are clearly "holes" in the frame where one could possibly reshape them to work with a shoulder harness. One would still need to create a pass-through for a sub strap.
