Default Electrical Damage ?

My son attempted to jump start my 77 930.Unfortunately while hooking up the booster he reversed negative and positive. Now the car will not fire and generator light stays on even when ign. is off. It has a Electromotive HPV-1 direct ignition.Which I think may have been fried. Planning on tearing into this weekend. Was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what to look for,and where I could find replacement parts for the ignition system.

Thanks Jim

Doing that can fry a diode board in the alternator. Maybe thats all it is.

I would agree that the diode in the alt is gone.

^+1.

For Electromotive parts, you might try Clewett.

Thanks guys,
I have a awesome alternator/starter shop locally to fix the alt.
I'll give Clewett a try ,I don't think the system is terribly old but it was installed before I bought the car in 03. It's awfully fast when it starts, just the way I like it.
