Default Popping out of 2nd Gear- Common Issue? What's the Cause?

my car is popping out of second, and only stays in if I hold the shifter there. My shifter bushing- the main square one- is not even there anymore.... would that be a sure fire cause?

It could be minor or major, hopefully yours is minor. I'd do a search here. I had this issue but it was because my shifter needed adjusting (at the shift coupler in the tunnel behind the front seats). It wasn't centered in the forward/backward plane. Once I did this, no issues (my gearbox had been rebuilt 10K miles ago so I didn't think it would be major). Good luck!

Oh, and yes if your bushing is gone that could definitely be the problem!

Awesome. I thought so... Hopefully that is the culprit. Where is the best place to find a good deal on the bushing?

It's cheap so I'd try your local dealer for convenience sake, or any of the usual like automotion, pelican, sunset porsche, etc.
