Thats like asking " how long is it going to take this apple to rot?".... there are too many factors to answer your questions correctly......
Some factors that influence turbo performance:
engine size
intercooler size/ and efficency
C/R
head porting
exhaust diameter
zork tube
CIS or EFI
if EFI, the difference in maps
cams
intake mods
fuel injector size
race gas or pump gas
All these things add up...or in different combinations will make a turbo "spool up" quicker on a given engine. Also these mods could require and make better use of different sizes of turbo.....which brings us to another variable... A/R sizes
You can get the GT-35 in normal bearing or ball bearing. They have numerous different configuations as far as A/R compressor as well as exhaust.
So, back to the original question. For my engine...the GT-35r was the better choice... by far!!! But with your engine, since we have no idea what mods you have done to yours, it would be a shot in the dark as to which turbo would be better for you.
I will say this, if you still have CIS, and stock displacement, stick with the KKK variants...

Check out this book. It's a very good resource on turbocharging an engine and explain everything you would ever want to know about turbos and how they work. It also explains why you can't just go buy any turbo and put it on your car or you'll be looking at detonation if you don't have the correct one for your engine it's different modifications. There is actually a lot of math and calculations that go into picking the correct sized turbo for any engine.

I agree with my neighbor from Macon. If your car is not matched correctly with the right cams, intake, exhaust, IC and a good EFI program, the GT35R is a waste of time and effort. I think the tweaked K27s used heavily by guys on this board are a much better option that will improve the performance of your ride. However, if you have built the motor etc and are looking for the right turbo to finish it off, I have to say I love this turbo on my car. I only have a few thousand miles on mine so I am not sure on the durability yet. Letting us know what your application is will help many help you.

I think if you plan to run CIS I would advise against it. There is way to much CFM with that turbo to run a CIS car. Phil's car is heavly built, CIS and has all the internals done. A good K27 will still be night and day over what you have currently.
