I wouldn't worry about the vents being OEM or not if you like the look and the car turns out to be a nice one. Remember "Its a car!" If it is in good shape and the PPI is good then negotiate with the owner and get the best deal you can. The thing that would bother me is the stock IC. If it has always been on the car then it means the past owner was after looks over performance and that is a bad thing. I don't mean that he needed to have a 500 hp engine but to put in a boost cont. and not modify the engine makes no sense. On the other hand as mentioned above, someone could have taken the new IC off and replaced it with the OEM to make it look like it was more original. As for the vents, I put them on my car because I like the look of them in place of a paper rock shield.

As I said I'm not concerned with the car being OEM, I like the way it looks. I'm more concerned with the overall condition of the car and if it will cost a ton after I make a purchase. I got a reply from from Reid Vann about the PPI, just waiting on the seller now so I can set it up. Anything in particular I should have them check? (compression, Leak down, VIN match on body panels, idle quality, leaks, smoke)?

PPI is scheduled for tomorrow. $200 for the basic run through, drive test, check for previous damage, etc. If that passes, for another $220 they'll do a compression and leakdown test, and if that looks good, for another $200 they'll pull the valve covers, check the studs, guides, etc and adjust the valves. Anything I'm forgetting?

I like the way your stepping the PPI. That saves you money if something bad is found early. It looks like you have it wired. Make sure that your mech gives the tranny/clutch a good warm up and test. One good test is to put it in 4th or 5th at a low speed and floor it. The clutch will slip or chatter if it is worn out. The synchros should be tested as well. Going into reverse is a little notchy on all of our cars so don't get too concerned about it unless you can tell that the clutch will not stop the input shaft from turning after a short wait. I hope it works out well for you. You'll love it!

had to pass, never got past the first step of PPI
PPI noted the following:
-the car was repainted, heavy orange peel in places (5ft paint job)
-40-50% brakes
-electrical is 100%
-transmission noise at idle in neutral (gear or bearing going bad)
-engine work done in last year or two on left bank (reseal possibly)
-catch tank breather is leaking excess oil (excessive blow-by)
-drives well, but burns lots of oil (smokes on start and shut down)
-rough idle (either cammed or in need of tune or valve problem)
