When I was a kid in high school I had a Mitsubishi conquest that had a turbo in it. Trouble is I dont think the turbo ever worked, not having the funds to fix it- it stayed broken..
I'm wondering what happens to a 930 engine when the turbo dies. Does it behave like an N/A engine? Does the lack of a working turbo harm the engine? or does it just behave like a run of the ill 3.2 ?
If it is only a bad turbo it will run like a poorly tuned 911 Carrera. If it has any vacuun leaks it will run if at all, poorly. Remember the comp. ratio is lower due to the boost than a Carrera and that alone will make it a poor performer with out the turbo.
In my experience the turbos don't seize up when they fail; instead the seals fail which allows the engine to ingest ALOT of oil. The result is hard to ignore - a huge billowing cloud behind you!
Others may have experienced other failure modes, but I've not heard or experienced anything else.

Oh ya, when my turbo stoped working my buddy that was behind me, called me Bond, James Bond
