wevo. nice piece. still shifts like a school bus compared to a 997 with a short shifter, but it did make a big difference.

I did the Weltmeister kit for $100.00, took about 40% of the throw length out. No issues with hard shifting or hard to get reverse. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

First one I did was a Weltmeister. Made a big difference in the throw and was easy to install. Replace all your bushings while you are in there and check the coupling in front of the rear seat.

Moved to a Hargett later on.

The first change I made to the car was installing a Wevo shifter & coupler.

+1 for Wevo shifter and coupler (IMHO much better than Weltmeister and worth the extra $ if you have it).

Default Thanks guys, but.....

Are these (Wevo and Weltmeister) for 4 speed 930's? how about the 1989 5-speed (which is what I have)?

You need the G50 from Wevo.

Please describe the difference for those of us who are trying to convince ourselves that we have yet another $600 to spend on a car which seems to be a black hole for money.

Does the shifter make the 2nd to 3rd gear shift smoother and less vague?

Any difference getting into first gear?

Thanks!

Default Answers:

Before, I want to point out, these are purely subjective opinions.
Now, to the details:
NO difference in getting into first other than you have a steady shifter pushing rather than a wobbly lever
Second to third IMHO feels more precise and definitely quite less travel from the shifter
There are many controversial mods for porsches out there (chips for example) for which there are vague (if any) evidence to suggest that they improve your car. This one, you will feel that it makes it better for sure (but don't expect it to be a 997, that's not gonna happen).
Would I do it again? I really wonder what took me so long...

I've got the G50 Wevo kit in my 930 (modded with a G50 tranny). Much less vague--shift planes are regular and predictable. Shorter. Effort is quite reasonable. I got the black anodized lever, and I think it looks great, and integrates well, in the cockpit.

This does NOT turn the whole gear changing operation into an NSX experience. But it is far better than stock. Actually, dollar for dollar, although it isn't cheap the difference in feel between stock and modded is greater than a lot of things you could spend the same or more dough on in the 930 world...
