Default 930 test drive

Hello everyone I am getting closer to buying a 930.Last week in my thread I indicated I would be looking at a1987 venetian blue with 48000 on the clock and a 2 owner car for 30k. Wednesday was the big day. The paint is purrrfect along with the interoir and no oil leaks. The test drive was interesting because I dont believe the turbo worked . I noticed the boost guage was full scale boost and not working.I never drove a930 or even had a ride in a turbo till my test drive.I still like the car and in general it is clean and solid when driving so I went for the ppi.The following questions which come to my mind I will share.Based on my description is there a bad turbo or leak in the system and if so how much would one discont the price to be fair to both parties? Ultimately I would like to go with headers new muffler k27 and 1 bar spring. Concerning these parts I was wondering about costs and best manufactures people use? NOTE This is a stock car private owner who has babies and a young wife that does not like the car and is ready to move on.The ppi is costing around 180 what are some good questions to ensure acomplete ppi

What makes you think the turbo wasn't working? If the guage was pegged at full boost all the time, it indicates a problem with the gauge or the related sending unit, but the gauge and turbo are not connected at all. Was the car dog slow? Did it smoke like a mosquito fogger when you pressed the accelerator? If the car seemed fast, the turbo is probably boosting. These cars do not make much horsepower without boost since the engines have a low compression ratio. Do a search on the word ppi and you'll find out everything you want to know and more about the ppi process and what to look for. Good luck!

The kick of a turbo is unmistakable. You push your foot right down while cruising in 2nd gear or higher at say 4000rpm and the car starts to accelerate immediately, a second and a half later and you get pinned in to the seat...

Did that happen?

I agree with Nathan. If you have to ask about the turbo working or not, it didn't! That is the whole reason to own one of these things, to get exciting boost and the unbeliveable accleration once the boost comes on.

Agreed! After driving a 930 that really cranks the only thing left to do is reach for the check book.

when the boost is loose, the turbo spins. when the turbo spins, the bull**** ends.
