Gooding is advertising Steve McQueen`s ( Yeah, I wanted to be him too) 930(76) at their Peeble Beach auction. I think it is the same special order color --kind of that gray-- green that he always ordered. Why, should this be interesting? Last year they auctioned off his early 60s special order Ferrari Lusso and it sold for double the market price. Lussos have sold at premium ever since. If this one sells for large and if the Amelia slant is any indication it might. It could mean these cars will enjoy the upward value curve they deserve.

I just saw it advertised in the Pano I received today. I remember a blurb written about it several months ago along with his "S" in Lemans. I went on the website to get more info on the 930, but there was none. It will be interesting to watch this one.

If McQueen`s Ferrari Lusso is used as an example it sold for double the rate at that time and Lussos have been much more valuable ever since. Up to that point they were kind of overlooked compared to Super Americas , Daytonas, etc. Of cours, Ferrari produced far less. Porsche kept making 930s because they kept selling them for big money for decades. But, they only made two or three a day. Also 934s and 935s kept beating the Hell out of everything else for years on all kinds of tracks. 930s were the street version.
My sense( or hope) is this kind of publiciity will prompt the so called experts to extoll the value of 930s and the relatively low price and more than anything else the fact that they are fun to drive and much less tempermental than other supercars of that era. We will see.
