Default Tial wastegate question????

I noticed most use the 46mm and a few use the 38mm. I am wanting to replace my stock wastegate on 77 930. Mods include SC cams, euro fuel head, 7200 KKK. What would be the best size for my application? What are the pros and cons of 38mm vs 46mm? My only other future upgrades will be intercooler, Digital WUR, custom headers and MSD. Thanx, Jamie

Default Also I noticed Tial makes a narrow body for 930!!

Will the standard body fit the stock location or do I need the narrow body. I have a chance to buy a new standard 46mm for a good price.

if you are changing the headers you wouldn't have to worry about the narrow body as they mount differently, and I understand the 46mm is the one to go for. Don't know why, and I should point out my experience is based on the Turbo 2, although I understand the exhausts are very similar.

Default 46mm......

bolts right up like stock, no issues.....if you have a chance to get a good deal, grab it. Took me all of 20 minutes to install mine.....

I picked up an excellent condition used Tial 46 for less than $200, and it too bolted right up in all of a 20 minute job, if that.
As to using a 38mm, I'm no expert but I think the reason that the 46mm is the most common upgrade from the stock WG is because anything smaller may not be able to divert (waste) enough exhaust gas to slow the turbo down and control overboost.

Thanx for input, I went ahead and purchased 46mm. Its on the way with 20psi spring, but I will replace with .8 bar. Thanx, Jamie

So, what did it cost? I recently picked up a good used one for $300 shipped. Haven't installed as of yet.

I paid $400 for new in box never used, the guy changed his mind in his setup, so I saved a few bucks over new.

The narrow body makes removing the rocker cover easier.
