Default Problems tonight (wiring diagram)

Can someone please explain the below problem with the wiring issue on the schematic?

My friend (cl8ton) and I attempted to tackle this tonight. We had a volt meter up and attempted to re-enact what ever happened before with no success.

In the wiring schematic, fuse #8 (on the fuse block of 1-10) was labeled as the connections for the fuel pump relays (for pin 86) and we found that the fuse was faulty. The issue is that in the shop manual the fuse is for back-up lights, emergency flasher relay and rear turn signal lights, which is correct.

Can someone explain why the two documents are off? We still have not found the culprit but were digging in further.

Any help is appreciated.
Bryan

Default Wiring Diagram

OK,

This is what I am show on my wiring diagram. If you chase the .5 BL (.5mm and Blue) wire from fuel pump relay number II you will see that the wire comes off pin 86 (this also bridges and supplies pin 86 on fuel pump relay I) and travels along the red arrows and ends up in the fuse box in slot #8.

Why is there differences on what the wiring skematic and what the porsche shop manual shows, which is back up and hazard lights for fuse #8.

Can someone please help with this one?

Thanks,
Bryan

You are looking at the wrong fuse. It's the 5th fuse from the back. Or the 3rd fuse back in the 10 pin fuse block. See attached...

Default Look at Fuse #3 in the 1-10 fuse block.

That supplies power for (pin 30) the relays. It is a 2.5mm wire. I think (not for sure) that your rear and front of car thought is incorrect on the diagram.

Can someone confirm this? I want to be wrong, but then how do you explain the red wire coming out of the top if number 3 that clearly goes to pin 30 on relays (main power supply).

Lastly, if you are correct and fuse #8 is really for the back-up lights which I confirmed yesterday, then why would their be such a small wire (.5mm) to supply power to the relays and a much larger (2.5mm) wire off #3 to pin 30? This wiring diagram is confusing me with incorrect info.

Thanks Jim,

Bryan

Default Update

Well,

After too many under the car and dirty hand situations checking every ground and power supply to the car, I think I have solved the problem.

I recently had the motor out at a local shop where they replaced the shift-shaft, Intermediate shaft and the Outer Front Nose Bearing seal's and apparently forgot to push the plug for the CDI box in all the way.

It was moving slightly and my guess is this is why it happened. I have not been able to re-create the incident since and the car runs great.

Well see how long that lasts. Let's hope I fixed the problem.

Thanks to all who helped.

Bryan

Congrats on finally chasing it down Bryan....I'm still waiting on my car...ran into a problem with five broken head studs...so the beat goes on. I'll eventually make it down to Fresno....or maybe you'll be up Sacramento way before I get squared away?

Chuck
