Default 79 is alive...

My 79 has taken on a life of its own. A few days ago, I pulled the car out of storage. As I opened the engine deck (can't call it the "hood" and its not the trunk) parts were jumping out of the car, literally. As I opened the deck, parts were hitting me in the leg. After I chased down the parts, it became obvious what happened. The cap on the spring for the latch failed, it split and allowed the spring to come flying out of the latch.

Anyway, long story to ask can I just get a new cap for the spring? I don't need the whole latch assembly, just the cap for the spring.

Not sure about a new cap, but if you do re-use it, make sure the sleeve on the piston is still in good condition. they wear out, and if it does, the lid wont "pop up" when you pull the latch.

You can find good used assemblies for about $20-30
