Rolex 24 Places to go pics- Let me take you there-
Had a blast and as promised would share some experiences and pics. Great to see some of you- see you again next year same time, same reserved spot..
Well our trip started out with a bang.. We arrived trackside thursday night only to find out that were we usually park was taken by hospitality parking. If you bring a motorhome reserve a spot. This was the 1st year they turned people away from staying in the infield on Sat. All was well as we convinced the track to get us a new parking space.. Then they impounded our pit bikes. It seems someone ran someone else over and they are suing the track- no ins card- no bike. Well at least I got some exercise ( a big buzz kill though)
Friday morning came and we wandered off. 1st stop was the Daytona club for coffee and bloodymarys. Quite the spread.
Upstairs at the Victory lane Bar I could see that last years Daytona 500 from here was going to be more fun then the 24hr- all you get a good view of is victory lane and the start finish line- Life of the rich and famous I guess. Its a palce to be seen , drink and stuff your face - not necessarily to watch the race.
Hell We got TV at the RV..
Off to practice and check out the garage..
Race day the Garage is a buzz and the smell of race gas is almost hipnotic..
Pit row is always my favorite-- As they grid
Come night Fall we eat some more and headed to the pits. It's not a bright idea to hit the heavy drinking BEFORE you head that way. I imagine they would boot us in a heart beat. We hung out at the Brumos tent for awile and simply enjoyed watching the teams in action
Yes I know we look wasted and like idots but there are some things you cannot control....
Off to finish the night we watched from our neighbor Getty Lee's motor home- good God I am sure it cost more than my house...
That's all for now- I hope you all enjoyed it and inspires you all to come out. Hope to see you next year.. I'll do one more post of the people we met and also upload a link where you can Alot more-
Cheers, Mike
