OBX headers--oh my...
#16
I have also just received my obx headers and i am well impressed with their value for money!
i have read over in pelican that they have been tested to prove they are 321 stainless so all the better!!..To be honest whether it was any brand,,b&b,ghl, gsf,i would probably always clean inside anyway on a turbo charged car just to be on the safe side!!..
Not all but alot of these aftermarket headers seem to have some fitting issues so i would rather be tweeking a far cheaper set and have change in my pocket still!.
sandman i believe has now run these for several months and last i heard was well pleased with them so hopefully we will have the same joy!

Spent about an hour tonight cleaning inside my headers paying particular attention to the areas inside where welded..there may be less chance of finding any loose particals in some other brands of headers although i think i would still inspect/clean them just to be on the safe side!!
Below is what i decided would do the job along with my electric drill!
started with the larger diameter very stiff/strong wire rope shown,,then removed strands,,then bend out ends of the removed strands to give me a chimney brush effect larger than the inside diameter of the pipe..Attached the other end to my electric drill and cleaned away inside!!
As you can imagine these very strong sharp wire ends spin around at some serious speed so my thick welding gloves and safety glasses were required!
Will now wash inside before i install sometime next month!
What are the best gaskets to fit to the heads and where in the uk will i get them??

cheers tjr,,will do that then!,
the pitch between the the holes from one bank to the other bank measuring it looks out by a few mm on the furthest away 2 cylinders so i am going to make a jig and do a little tweeking/bending before i try and fit them

I bought the steel ones from the dealer and they work fine. The ones I took off were fiber and they fell apart. Also be aware that the gaskets have a right way and a wrong way to go on. The flange side, (Raised lip), should go into the head not the header. If I remember they are pretty pricey. I think I paid about $80 for a set. One suggestion Stu about cleaning your OBX's after the wire brushing and that is block all of the passages except one at a time and blow as high a flow of high pressure air as you can through. While you are doing this tap on the tubes with a rubber mallet to break that one small piece loose that defied the brush.
