Default Fitting 964 Turbo Tail Lights And Center Piece?

Will they fit my 86 930 without modifications? I'm upgrading to the 964 bumpers and want to see what if anything I'll need to do to install them.

No, the bumper set up and tail light sections in the quarters are very different in shape and the way they mount to the body

So the question begs to be asked.... Since the lights are different, and this mod has been done numerous times before, How does one go about doing this?? Once I get my car on the road, I will also be tackling this mod. I will find a way to make it work( and in a way that does not look bad), but for those who might want to complete this mod now, or over the winter months, what procedures did you use? Why are the ones that some of you seen not look right? Do they not line up the lights correctly? Is there an excessive amount of gap(s) between the lights, fender, etc? Does anyone have photos of the mounts they fashioned to make this work?

The bumper fits just fine. Leave the lights alone.

Next time you're at my house, look at mine. One mod and it fit right with no problem, no gaps and I personally think it looks good - even with stock 79 930 lights. I think I still have pics of the conversion if you're interested.

The 964 lights, especially the center reflector, is notorious for fading, cracking and condensation. I know because in the total of 7-8 yrs ownership of a 964 and 965, I have bought and changed 3 sets of rear lights/reflectors. The lights before and after the 964 seem to be made of more crack and fade resistant plastic. Of course it's also because I can't stand "old looking" lights so change whenever it starts looking tired.

Just my observation. Search the 964 board and you'll see loads of topics on how to hide and fix cracks and color fade
