Is it me or is it a pain in the *** to replace dist. cap on 1977 930
Do I need to remove turbo pressure tubes to get the backside clip on new distributor cap, what a pain in the ***?

Yeah it is a PITA on 930s, more so if it's a later car with an intercooler. If you can get your hand in there, clip the back clip first, then the front. Removing the pipes would help, but if you end up doing that, make sure you have new o-rings on hand.

I thought the same. It's like.... did they design ANYTHING on this car to be easy to work on?
The first time was such a struggle. The second time I had to do it, I somehow got my hand back there, tilted the cap slightly to get the rear clip on, then straightened the cap, hooked the front clip.... then went back and got a finger on the rear clip and snapped it on all the way to fully seat it. It is not easy ... and I have small hands and skinny fingers.
Good luck.

Advantage EFI... 10 minutes to remove and replace all 6 plugs!
I do remember hassling with that distributor cap. I used to use a piece of wire bent into a hook to lift the clip and a big bent screwdriver to clip it into place.
