Default Turn signal schematics

My left front blinker went out recently. Actually, it went out sometime while a cousin was doing a cross-country drive in the car. The light bulb works fine, so I traced it down to a blown fuse. So I replaced the 5 amp fuse with a new one. Two days later, the fuse blows again. (Not surprised.) So now I've got to trace down the little problem.

Here's my question: I've got the Bentley manual for the Carreras. If I need them, will the wiring schematics (at least for the turn signals) for the '84-'89 Carreras work for my '87 Turbo?

Well, the smallest amperage fuse Porsche put in from the factory was 8 amp, so that could be your problem right there. But, I'd look into it anyway since electrical circuits are designed to run well below the current rating of the fuse. Since it takes 2 days before the thing blows it doesn't sound like a dead short, but put in an 8 amp and measure the current when the left turn signal is going.

Thanks for the suggestion, Droops. I'll try that when I've got some time this weekend. However, IIRC, there are yellow 5 amp fuses used throughout the fuse panel, and the fuse diagram on the cover of the fuse box lists the proper fuse as 5 amps. Again, that's going by memory. I'll recheck it tonight.

I know it's a long shot, but did you check the blinker fluid?

Sorry. I tried to resist, but was too weak.

No. That won't work for me. I clicked on your link. My blinker's not sluggish at all. When I activate the turn signal, the clicking noise goes way too fast. (B@stard, making fun of my plight.)

I know I was as helpful as a kick in the nuts. It's all I had to offer. Sorry about your plight.

Rocket - thanks for the LOL humor there... too funny...

Noah - the turn signals are supposed to have 5 amp fuses which are the Yellow ones. If it's intermittent you probably have a short that's ocurring while driving. But first, I'd put a meter on it and see what current you're getting there.
