Default 87 930 purchase

Very close to buying an 87 930. Getting a ppi done on the car. Anything else I need to be aware of. Porsche of Beverly Hills will do the ppi for $310. With the compression check it is $800. Is it worth the extra dough? Also a/c. Can it be improved on the car? Thanks for any replies.

I think those are Beverly Hills PPI prices. I paid like $250-300 for the PPI and leakdown and all the rest.

I forget who it is, but someone sells an A/C kit for about $2000-2500 that fits an add-on unit behind the left rear fenderwell. Supposedly drops core temps by as much as 30-35 degrees.

Most folks just suffer through it and dont bother throwing bucks at the problem.

Way too much for a PPI....should be in the vicinity of $200-300 for a pretty extensive one with leakdown. I paid $190 for mine...prices vary by location but geez....$800? What are they going to do for that much money?

They said for $800 would do a compression check (whatever the @#$% that entails). Anything I would have them check specifically?

It would have to be a leak down adn a compression check to be accurate, but $800 on top of the $310? Who recommended them and is there any one else nearby?

The extra dough you save on the PPI can go towars the A/C.

I personally would find an independent shop that knows 930s very well. I doubt many of the techs at Porsche of Beverly Hills have even worked on these cars much less performed a leakdown/compression test on one. I would ask around for indy shop recommendations.

Yea, that is very high. You shouldn't pay more than $450.00, and that would be on the high end I would think. I had 2 done when looking for mine less 2 months ago, and the most I paid was $280.00 and that included compression and leak down tests. I also agree that "typically" the dealership doesn't do any work on that year cars. Good luck.

Both a leak down AND compression should be done, find someone that will do both.

$800 is ridiculous. Most PPIs will run about $200-300, and will include a compression check. I've heard different opinions as to the utility of a leakdown check, but usually that will be included in the price, as well. There are certainly other reputable independent shops in the L.A. area the seller should be willing to allow PPI his car.
