So the rope goes between the seal and the car body ?

TIA

I believe that the piece of rope goes under the seal where the glass fits into the seal in the corner. In other words you put the rope on the windshield and then pry the rubber up and push the rope into the corner where the glass fits in the seal. This will push the rubber in the corner outward so that it will cover the opening.

I had the same problem - using a $ 40 aftermarket rubber. Replaced it with a factory one and solved the problem - for $ 300!
