My 930 weighs 2700lbs with very little fuel in it.
Heavier tranny but lighter bumpers.

There is a guy that puts chevy engines in Porsches for a living.

So you can have your cake and drive it too.

2000WRX,

I appreciate your lust and over-whelming desire for potential ownership of a 930, and I also hope you find one sooner than later. But please don't talk up Corvettes here. There are more appropriate places out there where one can do that...

DDD - a Chevy motor in a Porsche body? That's like putting that complete whacko Rosie Odonnel's personality inside of Fergie's rack. Looks can only go so far

I have both. I drive the '94 Corvette on the 1 hour commute to work most days. It's a very good car. I save the '86 930 for the mountains on the weekends. Different job, different hammer. They could exchange places certainly, but I find that I am willing to spend my toy budget on the 930 more often than on the Corvette. The 930 makes me say wow! Find your passion, spend your money on it, and try to see the passion others have for their rides. Next week I may "discover" Harleys, who knows...

Yeah, I know. My whole point was that people tend to overlook how easy it really is to modify a 930. Instead of just building an engine, you can mess around with your turbo type, and fueling system, go twin turbo, or reduce a lot of weight very fast. And if you want to build a monster engine, you can spend the money on a Porsche engine, or do the unthinkable and get a Rosie brain implant!

Lots of reasonably priced alternatives. And some expensives ones too.
