Default 245-45zr-16??

i have baked the rear tires off of my 930. i currently have bridgestone so-2's and the fronts are perfect. where can i get a set of so-2 rears so that i do not need to mis-match the set?

the tirerack no longer carries the 930 rear size. help appreciated.

best,

pcb

Hankook Ventus RS-2 ZR rated tires at Discounttire.com. I have them and like them. Much stickier than the Dunlop Sport 8000 I had before. They get pretty good reviews on here from Street, AXers and DE drivers. They were about $100ea for the rears and $90ea for the fronts.

Just checked the site:

Here they are listed now for $121 for your size, w/ free shipping.

it does look like the 245-45-16 is getting a bit dear. are there other size options that you all have tried?

my goal is to keep the set matched as i think i will go through rears at a rate of 2-1 as compared to the fronts.

failing that i will look at other options...thank you for the suggestion and link.

My impression is that Bridgestone no longer makes that tire and you will have trouble finding it, although I could be mistaken.

If you like Bridgestone, you can get four of their 750 Potenza series. None of the other tires are anything other than bargain basement tires that tirerack offers in that size. The Avons are okay but they are going to stop offering the front tires fairly soon in that size according to tirerack people, the yoko AVS 100 are a joke, the Conti tires will tend to flat spot, the sumitomo are cheaply built and fairly heavy. The Fuzion is made by Bridestone, but isn't quite as good as the Potenza.

you could try the Hankook tires at discount tire. My friend likes them. I don't know anything about them.

If you want the real story at tirerack, call customer service, not sales, and talk to Bryan. The sales people will sell you anything they can, and if you want real info you need to talk to one of the more experienced guys there, not the guy trying to earn his first paycheck at the sales desk.

It looks like you gave him the link to 245-45-17s. The 245-45-16s are still $110. Here is the link: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...45&ar=45&rd=16

I think it all comes down to what you want out of a tire. If you are looking for the most performance and a sticky tire, get the Hankook. But it will wear quickly compared to a Bridgestone, just look at the treadwear rating.

On the other hand, if you really want your front tires to last through multiple sets of rears, than the Bridgestone Potenzas will last longer and not give up too much in street performance, although they won't be as sticky around a track or autocross course.
