When draining the oil I found metal fragments on the oil tank drain plug but none on the crankcase drain plug. Any clue as to why? They did not appear to be bimetallic.

Just out of curiosity is it possible that a turbo seal is going out and causing this? I have noticed more oil in the intake track lately. Could a degrading 360 degree thrust washer be causing this? When I plumbed the motors oil lines, the turbo return line dumps directly into the oil tank.

Remember that the oil is filtered before it goes back in to the tank from the engine. So I am thinking you are right that the metal is coming from the turbo oil pump or the turbo itself.
