Default Boost signal for the Lm-1

Just out of cusriousity, can I splice into the boost signal wire going into my gauge within my tach and feed it into the LM-1 for a boost readout? Is the voltage something I can workout through the software?

Hello,
as the OE gauge is by far not accurate,
I am not sure if the gauge or the sensor is
the reason, I would strongly recomment
to buy a acurate map sensor.

We have a ongoing discussion about map sensors
in the Miata forced induction scene.

A guy has measured a 2 bar GM sensor (20 bucks)
and compared to a Greddy 3 bar.
here his comments:

"For one thing, the output of the 2 bar sensor was a lot noisier. Individual intake pulses were showing up as huge spikes in the output.
It's almost like the Greddy sensor has some built-in dampening to ensure that it produces a smooth output.
"

For sure it has not to be a greddy sensor, there might be other
accurate ones out there.

Isnt innovate offering a Map sensor?

From my side, I am currently setting up a ZT-2 (Zeitronix), on my 930.
I use the Zeitronix sensor, not cheap, but very exact.

Innovate does have a sensor... i simply am not interested in spending an extra $250! I only really need RPM and AFR.

That being said, I'm not sure about the OEM boost gauge either, that's why I asked. I wasn't sure myself if it was the sensor or the gauge. I have a feeling it is the sensor though.

Hello Marc,

you can use a GM-Map sensor,
it will work too.
Acurancy is only needed if you want to use the signal.

Would anyone know wiring output offhand of a GM sensor. There are three leads (I assum 12v, ground, and signal) . I don't want to blow the sensor.

Will any sensor work? or do they need to be able to detect boost as well as vacuum?

yes it will detect boost and vacuum.

They are about $50-60 - if you find them cheaper let me know where!!!!

Not sure of wiring but I think your assumption is correct, 12v, grd, signal....

In general MAP sensors use a +5Vdc as a power source. There are some that are designed/modified to run +12VDc. When purchasing a MAP sensor, get the specs on it, a 2BAR sensor may register up to 1bar boost (not 2 bar boost). It's a bit misleading!

yes the 2 bar sensor measures standard atmospheric pressure + boost - in this case up to 1 bar of boost. 3 bar sensor would measure up to 2 bar of boost.

ok thanks. I found one for $20.. I think the TPS uses 5v for it's power, if so I'll tap off of that.

this is slippery slope, and I think I'm falling off the cliff!
