Default Problem Solved

Guys,

Once again thanks for all of your help wrt the issues I’ve been having with my car. After completely replacing all of the brake components on the front of the car, which was expensive and time consuming, the problem still existed. So, we started looking at the suspension. First thing we checked was the corner weights on the car and this is what we found:

Without driver, total weight 2973 lbs:

LF 625 lbs
RF 477 lbs
LR 886 lbs
RR 985 lbs

RF+LR = 1363 lbs, 46% of total weight
LF+RR = 1610 lbs, 54% of total weight
With 174 lb driver, total weight 3147 lbs:

LF 685 lbs
RF 513 lbs
LR 957 lbs
RR 992 lbs

RF+LR = 1470 lbs, 47% of total weight
LF+RR = 1677 lbs, 53% of total weight

I’m ecstatic that we finally found the problem, but I’m also very disappointed in that I paid a reputable shop a lot of money to properly set up the suspension. Based on the data above, I’m assuming that the car was never put on the scales. This is what your car looks like when your corner balance is not properly done and you lockup the front right on turn 3 at Sebring. Luckily, neither I nor my instructor was hurt.

I’m going to approach the shop that did the original suspension work, more on that later.

Regards, Dave
