How much time do you folks spend under your cars cleaning them? I don't think I've seen this many spotless clutch mechanisms.... unless they were pics of a new car....BTW...what's the part number for that corregated rubber boot that goes over the shaft? Mine's in pieces....

Porche MD: I did that the first time. Then I just tightened the cable to get the pedal up. That's when I did the shot. I went back and did the procedure you described. It's better, but still pretty much 2/3's down before engaging. I'll give it another shot tomorrow.
Chuck, the cleaning eingine & trans is a by-product of a engne & trans rebuild.

Could you elaborate on that statement? Your pedal should be up during the adjustment procedure.

Sorry, the clutch pedal was at the top when I started making the adjustments. After I adjusted it according to the manual the clutch engaged about an inch or so off the bottom. As an experiment, and out of frustration, I tightened the cable up until the clutch engaged when the pedal was 1/3 to 1/2 depressed. The cable was too tight and there was no play between the two arms. After I took the photo I went through the whole procedure again. So now about about 2" off the bottom. Tomorrow I'll take the wheel off and check the play again.

Somethings not quite right, but I can't put my finger on it. It sounds like it's in the cable housing as PorscheMD says though.

The part the actual cable slides in and out of.

Where the cable housing attaches to the body of the car above the transmission mount. Is the cable housing over the nipple that sticks out from the body?

Default omega spring

is this the enclosed loop end omega spring 915 116 064 00 or the spring that is open on both ends 930 116 064 09 to match this lever? I am trying to troubleshoot a Clutch release assembly for a 930/36 gearbox and want to make sure i have the right parts for this application. see pic of what I have. This is a 930/36 gearbox with a shortened bellhousing.

clutch is way to stiff and cant control engagement very well. I think the person who assembled it originally missed one of the ears on the release bearing causing this problem. But... I want to make sure the external actuating parts are correct.
have.
