Default Timing with the smog crap gone?

OK I know it's supposed to be set at 26 degrees advance but, is that with the vacuum and pressure lines both disconnected or are they hooked up ? Also what rpm am I supposed to check it at? The manual is kind of confusing since there are so many different set ups.

I say both disconnected, plugged and at 4000 rpm.

My wife hates helping me on the car so much, I had to enlist my 12 year old daughter to rev it up to 4k while I checked the timing. I made sure her left foot was flat on the floor board, the right foot smooth on the gas and both hands were on the steering wheel. When we were done, she hopped out and said she couldn't wait to tell her brother who is 11 y/o.
