oil press on startup
My car has been on blocks for almost a year and I'm finally getting it back up to speed but I have a puzzle. Where should my oil pressure gage be at start up cold and where should it be after its warm but not running? Should it always go to zero after each shut down? Does it sound like a stuck sender?

If it's pegged at the top without the engine running (ie. ignition on but without the engine on) you have a problem - probably a sender but it could be the gauge. If it sticks somewhere in the middle after you shut down you've also got a problem as it should peg at the bottom.
Apart from that, at the top or near it on cold start, near the bottom (1 - 2 bar) for warm idle.

Thanks guys. Mine would go to about 4 bar on startup from zero but it would not change as the engine warmed up. Then at shutdown, it wouldn,t drop to zero. I've gone ahead and ordered a numerical pressure gage to go with my new numerical temp gage. They both come with new senders so that should fix it.
