Default Axle shaft bolts

This past weekend at Sebring I floored it at pit out went into second gear and really loud BANG and RPMs went way up. I thought Trany exploded, heard metal banging around. Pushed off track jacked up and found 2 axle bolts broke. The thing is 4 of the bolts where fine 1 was broke off like it was screwed in all the way and 1 was broke off like it was half way out. Is this comon. I guess these bolts should be checked every so often.

I used new bolts, with the half-moon plates, with the schnoor bevelled washers. So far, mine haven't budged!

A good idea from John on the racing forum is to use neon paint stick and mark your bolt and CV joint in a straight line. You'll see if it has moved if the line is offset.

I have my cv joints out to replace the boots, I noticed on my 84 I dont have these washers or half moon plates. Would it be a good Idea to include them for the reassembly?
Thanks,
aaron

Honestly, I would. These things just have a bad habbit of working themslves loose...unless you are of course trying to remove them...then they're a biatch to break loose! And make sure that the holes the bolts thread into, are absolutley clean as are all of the mating surfaces...brake clean is your friend.
