Oil spray hole in the chain housing?
I'm tring to clean out my piston squirters by plugging up all the oil holes (and there are a lot). When I think I have it all done, and shoot some brake cleaner and compressed air into an oil line port, I find that I have what looks like a small hole in the case in the timing chain chain area. After taking a picture and blowing it up though, it looks drilled. I should have checked th eother case half, but is this right? Does it spray on the chains?
BTW. Is there an easier way to do this?

Where is this on the case? It could be a stud hole or something else. I am not sure. If you can show me on the case where it is then I can tell you if it is suppose to be there.

Well, I thought it was kinda strange and then thought maybe it sprays the timing chain?
I almost did epoxy it up, but thought I'd ask first.
How do I clean those piston squirters BTW?
Thanks.

Can you blow through it? Does it go all the way through to the top? It might be a mod to the chains I do not know but if it was going to provide oil to the chains it would need to be under pressure and I am not sure how the pressure channel would be tapped at that point in the case. It looks threaded to me which indicates it would not be a squirter of any sort rather something someone tapped for what ever reason.

The hole is very very small. I never even saw it until I had evey oil port covered and blew air into one. Then I felt air coming out of it. You can see the size compared to the stud here. Below it is a bored oil line with a plug at the timing chain end.

I am in the finishing stages of hand polishing my case, and after looking at your post, i thought i better look at my case. I have a very, very small hole in the same location as yours. Mine is no bigger than a pin hole, and looks more like a casting flaw....not a machined hole. I will try to get a picture taken of it tomorrow, but it's in the same location as yours.....

I should have taken a picture of it with something next to it as a reference. It's very small. Try that.
