Default Test Tracks & nagging Wife

Where are test tracks in Orange County, CA?
My wife and I are purchasing our first porsche in the upcoming months (hopefully), and I will want to test the speed and handling after I purchase it!

We are looking at a the new 911 Carrera Cab. Geez, the last thing I want is a ticket on the first drive home! I'll try to push for the S model, but I dont know if 10k is worth the extra performance.

Something else too. Personally, I would want a 03-04 911 Turbo Cab. for the same money, but my wife wants a new car. Should I push for the Turbo?

Thanks!

If you're going to track the car regularly, I would'nt get a Cab. They're nice cars, but it's pretty easy to overwhelm a cab chassis on a track.

If you're just going out for a one time test and tune, then more power to ya!

BTW, have you driven a base 997 coupe? That's a wonderful car (barring the frameless doors ).

Newer cabs are pretty stiff cars.
Make sure that whatever group you DO run with - that they allow cabs. Some do not.
Go with your local Porsche Club for some beginner DEs

If you are looking for more activities and get to know your Porsche. This is a great place to start and join the local pca, Orange Coast Region.

Here is a get together tomorrow (Sat).

This is the 3rd Saturday coming up, so that means:

DOUGHNUTS WITH KEN (FAST FREDDY)

8:30 - 9:45

KRISPY KREMES
330 The City Drive South (~1/3 mile north of the 22 freeway)
The Block of Orange
Orange

After Krispy Kremes, gaggle on over to Haus of Performance for the 10AM
Tech Session.

Frank Hanrahan is a long-time Porsche tech (1971) and racer who knows
our
cars really well.
Franks plans to discuss tires, performance driving, Porsche maintenance
and any other questions that you may have.

10:00 - ??

Haus of Performance
3198-L Airport Loop
Costa Mesa

(see the map on inside back cover of the Pando or follow us from Krispy
Kremes)

See you there.

Cheers
