Default How do I quieten my exhaust?

OK, the date is drawing nearer where I have to go and get my exhaust noise tested. I know it will fail

Is there anything I can do to quieten my existing exhaust system?

I have a dual tip Mille-Miglia muffler. Will blocking one outlet quieten the exhaust?

i would think if you blocked one off it would cause more noise due to more back pressure. i could be wrong though.

Then, would it be quieter if I fit a bigger, single outlet muffler?

I was thinking of fitting a 18" long Magnaflow single in/out anyway.

MagnaFlows are fairly loud as well. Put a stock muffler on it.

My car is originally a 3.2 Carrera, running an aftermarket turbo system using a 930 muffler.

While my car is idling, you can have a normal conversation standing at the rear of the car. While at cruise, you can have a normal conversation in the cockpit. Under WOT, it will be loud.

I also turned the tip down slightly to keep noise from blasting straight out. Magnaflow is good, but not sure if its good enough for your problem.

Thanks to all for your input. Looks like I'll have to either source a factory muffler, or stuff my Mille-Miglia with steel wool. I've heard that works well too?!?

I have a friend who shoved stainless steel wool up the pipe just before he went. He actually stopped down the road a little and started stuffin'. Worked a treat. Was all blown out by the next day after a few good runs

Blocking one side will make it quieter, Have a dual tip as well and install a E-cutout on one side. E-cutout is a motorized valve. It's a little hard to see in this pic but it's on the ground next to the exhaust tip.

Thanks. Is there an off the shelf cap for blocking tips? Something that's removable for track events?
