Looks like I have to rebuild my engine (with Brian Keith Smith as my mentor) and I have just about everythng but the engine stand adapter.
Does anyone have one they can lend me for couple of months?
I'll pay for shipping.
Thanks,
Jim

If your cheap like me you can drill a couple of holes in a stock head. Only drawback is you must remove the clutch from the engine. (I tried to post a pic but it wouldn't take).

Jim I have the Porsche engine holding fixture as well the holding clamp that the fixture fits into. I also have the flywheel lock that fits the engine holder. You are welcome to use them. PM me. If you already have an engine stand, you'll only need the engine yoke. Let me know....

Thanks Jeff.
I've got all the external parts removed except the headers. When I get it on the stand, I'll remove those and really get started. She's tired and hopefully the wear isn't too bad.

I took a picture of my engine stand head modded to fit a 930 case. I know you guys have done this - very easy. You simply cut two of the arms down and re-drill the holes. The arms can then be adjusted to fit all 4 case holes if needed. The only drawback, as I listed previously, is that you must remove the clutch from your engine. The expensive 911 stand heads are basket shaped to accommodate the clutch.

Yes, but that would likely require you to cut off the existing "tube" extensions and add tubes the length of your choice. The arms can also be reversed to place the flat plate on the side of the engine rather than the arms.
The nice part about using a standard yoke/head is the 4 arms. You can use all 4 on a complete engine for increased stability and then remove 2 arms when it's time to split the case. And they don't cost $300.

I took the clutch and flywheel of before I mounted the adapter (Thanks Sand_Man!). I held up my engne stand adapter and kinda played with it before I used the real deal. It seems like it would work, but that you would not have the ring to make full contact with the case half and really rely on the two bolts rather than the case half an bolts.
But what do I know. It's the first time I've done it! LOL
