Thanks again everyone!

My understanding is that it had been converted in Germany. I personally have not done anything to the car. Just bought it as it is. I believe the RUF BTR hp number is 374 @ 0.8 bar. This car has a 1 bar spring. So, I guess that may up it by a couple of hp? I have spoken to a person by the name of Wayne at the Dallas RUF operation and he said the RUF numbers were always conservative, and in fact he suggested another number a bit higher than that. But the bottom line is that I don't believe the car has been dynoed.

This is the only pic I have of the tach. I need to take some more pictures.

I remember San Rafael is where the car came from.
Thanks Chet 930! Yes, I put all those places there so that you could identify it. I am thrilled about this story.

Chet... well, I'd ask how'd you pass up on this but, I've passed on some cars I wish I hadn’t.

Great car Olli! Wish I had one just like it.

Thanks Senna21!

Somewhat related to the previous question of whether I had done anything to the car, and the answer was no, I had not, I should mention that I did have a hiccup with the WUR right on the day I took delivery of the car. I got a new WUR and sent the old one to a fellow Rennlist contributor whose userid is FLYN930 for making it adjustable. So, now I have a spare adjustable WUR.
I spoke to him about possible modifications and he thought it would be best to leave the car as close to the original RUF conversion as possible and I think I agree on that. As it is, while the car is nowhere near in the same league as some of the modified cars of the members of this forum, it is plenty for me and I am having the time of my life enjoying it.

Very nice! I'd been looking for a silver 930 when I bought mine, but I ended up with a black one. I'm happier with black, it's just classic.

It's so hard to explain what these cars mean to people who don't understand the thrill of a Porsche --the thrill of just driving one (especially a 930). Been with out mine since last fall (engine rebuild) and now that summer is around the corner I need it. Not want need. Glad to see you enjoy yours and sharing with us (people who understand)

Chet... well, I'd ask how'd you pass up on this but, I've passed on some cars I wish I hadn’t.
The guy who owned it also owned a low mileage 97 black on black 993TT which was for sale along with Olli's Ruf. My wife talked me into the 993TT and thats what I ended up buying. Problem is that 2 months later I decided to buy the Ruf anyway and sell the 930 that I still have today but I had just missed it by a few days. It went of to the Carolinas where Olli is.

Olli, I was told that your car was taken off the line at Porsche and then converted, thus the Porsche factory vin number. Had it been built by Ruf, you would have had a Ruf Vin number.

Thanks! That is real good info. I was not sure who had done the conversion. I knew it had to be someone when the car was fairly new, but it's even better that it was done right off the Porsche production line. I know the RUF VIN numbers are more rare as they only did 10-12 per year, but I am quite happy with the Porsche VIN number and still knowing that they only converted somewhere betwen 50-75 per year. I am real happy with that.

Chet you are not too far from me in Pleasanton! I never see 930's around here. Next time we go on a mines rd. drive you should come out.
