Pretty cool! I'd like to hear what our resident tuner/engine builders have say about the mods. Looks like a nice build!

Very nice!!! I’d of thought with going EFI, 3.5ltrs and 1.1bar they would have found more power? They have given a possible suspension set up that I could have, on a different thread

With all the options for ECUs out there I wonder why they chose to go with a Motronic.
Ignition and fueling are controlled by a Motronic ECU out of a Carrera 3.2. The pressure-sensing engine management is light years ahead of the CIS fuel injection this Turbo came with. Its adaptation was made possible by a custom crank pulley and Protomotive software tuning.

I think the Motronic use is strange too. Maybe since it's an OEM part, it's deemed to be more reliable and maybe a little cheaper.

Nice car, I would have thought they would get more power than that though. Still impressive though. I look forward to dynoing my 930 and hitting the track with it.

Christian and JBL930 I just spoke to Rob at S Car Go and he indicated that the low end torque on this car is scary and with great drivability, that is what Tom Victor was after. They did not set out to make an all out high horsepower car.

^I see. They tailored it to the client. That's a good thing, I know with my cars that when you hit the 500hp + in the 930 & 965 that they are an absolute handful when you hammer it. Much more to control than the 993TT or 996TT due to the weight and awd on the latter 2.

I guess I am in the "crazy" group, I always tell Pat to make my cars balanced but I want ***** to wall power at the same time.

And it sounds like they've done a great job too!!!! It’s just that mine's putting out 480nm at 2750rpm, 520nm at 3000rpm and 615nm at 5000rpm with CIS which isn't as much as that car, but if I’d have paid to go electronic I would have expected more that's all, I bet his throttle response is great, and his AFR's. Like I said before, AWESOME car

I thought there would be more input on this car.

After doing alot of research on EFI vs. motronic I am changing my 965 over to motronic. Protomotive software as well. Protosport here in NJ will be doing the conversion. The reason they use the motronic is Todd Knighton of Protomotive is capable of doing some amazing things with motronic software and very few people are capable of working with the program. Plus it is a Porsche system. EFI is great and very adjustable but it is basically a piggy-back system. I like the fact motronic is a Porsche system. Protomotive tuning is also about BIG HP. Like RUF. Even though the HP numbers are not as high as you would think, I bet the car drives like it has twice that power. Plus I am sure if you saw a dyno graph it would be very impressive. Very linear, not peaky at all. This is also why I am staying with Protomotive motronic.

I too question the HP, nice torque though... Looks more like rwhp than engine. You can get that out of a 3.3 with stock compression (<7) at 1.1 bar versus the 3.5 with 8.5 cr. Considering the increased CR, that's equiv to something like 1.3 bar at cr 7.0. ...wonder if they're really not making that boost at red line -- they're up there pretty good by 2700 rpm.

Personally, I see that as a detriment unless you live close to Proto and need help with the cold start, warm up, etc tweaking. In any event, if you are not a DIY guy, then its probably a great idea.

I agree with Don. Heaven forbid the guy at Protomotive dies and you need to update your tune. I don't know anyone around here to could program a motronic box.

Plus, I'm not sure what this statement meant?
EFI is great and very adjustable but it is basically a piggy-back system
I know my system isn't a piggy back system, but I do know some that are. Are you saying that the Motronic system implementation they've done is a piggy-back system?
