Default oil scavenger pump

AS you upgrade turbos such as going from stock to Garrett on a modified motor is it common practice to upgrade the oil scavenger pump? If so what have you done, type of pump, where purchased etc. Is there any kind of flow rate calculation? My car is a 79 with SC Cams, Ruf 5 speed, headers used primarilly on the track. Turbo is a Garrett hybrid ball bearing unit.

If you use a Garrett turbo you will need to run a larger pump if you do not want to restrict the line. I do not recommend restricting it as it will die pretty quickly. I do recommend the larger pump. We sell them, unfortunately they are not cheap. Then again neither is the turbo.
