When (and if) that happens originality will drive value exactly as it does today for the early 911s.

Hate to side track the topic here but i gotta ask a question as i think it might be relevant in my future purchase.
Is it justify to pay a premium for a RUF car that has an older tech ( no EFI) vs the same year 930 that has been massaged including EFI,say by Imagine auto ? Yea i know the orange vs apple comment but hey i am not a collector so besides the collector point of view why not get more bang for your buck...
Lovely car none the less...
Thanks

Very true. Unfortunately this car is so far modified from a stock BTR that it is really just another modifed 930. It doubt it will go for more than $40k, as the collector value is now zilch.

"No offense, but I question how "knowledgable" someone is that suggests an understanding of a vehicles origin based solely on its side indicator lamps. Especially based on the previous post."

That is exactly what I meant by some one who is "somewhat knowledgeable". Someone with zero knowledge wouldn't know the difference, but someone LIKE ME who has always assumed the 930's I've seen running around with side marker lights were gray market. Personally I can't imagine anyone adding them to a U.S. model, but if it was done then I have learned something and that is why I belong to this list, to learn.

By the way, I believe that side markers were first mandated by DOT in 1968 and the lighting configuration of at least the late 60's and up Porsche 911 series was I believe already in compliance.

for a car that isnt even yours, your getting so defensive. your buddies car has been modified and thus lost its ruf based value.

I think one thing positive about that car as it is definitely a Ruf is that it has been seam welded (unless they were not). Also was the shell lightened too ? (holes drilled and no soundproofing). Or am I wrong ?

But as for money well invested, probably not. My car too will suffer with this problem, it is far from original and therefore will devalue alot.
But hey I like my car and it is what I could afford.

Not getting defensive... just stating my opinion like everyone else.

I saw this car upfront in their shop when I went in for an oil change. Very nice indeed, and if the right person came along it would make a very nice addition to an exiting car collection. Although the Ruf wheels are not on the car. I believe there was a set of Fiske or Kinesis k27s on it, not sure which.

Since used 993 RUF's are selling at over $200K, this price seems pretty good. Nice car. Some days as I stand in the garage looking at my 930 that's been apart for almost 2 years, that I've spent an obscene amount of money on, I wonder if I wouldn't have been better off spending the money up front so I could just drive.

Jim, Absolutely these are available. PM me if you want more information. There are many parts still available, not so many engine parts.

I agree with you on the price.

If you spent the money up front what fun would that be?

Diabolos... have been seeing your posts lately... looks like you are doing some pretty nice mods. Didn't realize you are in the Chicago area as well. Do you get to any of the local track events?

no, I just got the car this feb, with the Chitown winter I didn't get a chance to really take the car out while in Chicago. Im in AZ now for a while on my job. I drove her down, man what a trip that was!
Your buddies with MWP owner Simmons? I think I dealt with his partner when my car was in the shop. They literally were open about 2wks when I was there. Nice bunch though
