Your anticipated use is what seals it for me. Occasional trips to work, weekend toy, maybe some track time--930 in a landslide.

I don't have any experience with MM personally. Nor, for that matter, have I read anything about their work on 930s. But the bandwidth spent on the Porsche boards regarding their work on NA 911 engines should scare the pants off of anybody.

If $45,000 is truly your budget, as others have said you can get into a very nice '89 with the 5 speed for that, or a bit less. [You can also pay more, but that's beside the point]. If mods don't scare you (and, depending on who did them, they needn't) you can get absolutely kick-*** 930s from car nuts that are moving on for that kind of dough.

Personally, for anything but a daily driver, a NA 996 puts me to sleep.

'Cept for a GT3. Friend of mine has one, and they are cool.
