Default Turn signal ??

Question all...

I have 79 930...

I was wondering before buy a new one. When I use it, it does not go back to neutral position after I have completed the turn. I have heard in the past that this one might be a Euro turn signal. This could be a stupid question, but I do not want to pay 120.00 for a new one that does the same thing.

I have gotten use to it but I do sometimes forget...Which if I was following someone it would be very frustrating..

Thanks again.

Not sure about the 930 but some cars have a little bit of plastic on the steering wheel somewhere that clicks the lever back. I would take the steering wheel off and have a look to see if anything can be repaired. Hopefully someone else can help you with this.

pull the steering wheel off. On the steering wheel you should have a plastic tab protruding from the end of it. If you have this tab then you have what you need to cancel the turn signal lever. if you work the turn signal with the steering wheel off, you will see a white plastic arm stick out towards the shaft. The tab on the wheel hits this arm and cancels the turn signal. Use a screwdriver and try to cancel the turn signal by pushiing down on the white arm. If the arm has no tension on it and moves back in then you need a turnsignal/dimmer switch. hope this helps

The ring might also just be mounted in the wrong orientation. Take off the wheel and try rotating it a few spots over.

the tab should be on the opposite side of the turnsignal lever. even if it is in the wrong spot if you turn the wheel far enough and turn it back it will still cancel

Not to hijack the thread, but...

I replaced my turn signal about a year ago because it would not stay in the dimmed position. It would go to high and low on its on. I have the usual bulbs, no high wattage stuff.

I've used the headlights maybe 24 hours total since then and now the darn thing is doing it again. Any tricks out there?

A930Rocket, just a hare-brained idea but, have you replaced the flasher?

Haven't done that, but it feels more like mechanical condition like the spring in the switch is bad?

Rocket:

I had the same problem a few years ago. I fixed it by doing something with that spring in the switch you refer to. If my Alzheimers wasn't so bad I could tell you exactly what I did. Try to get at the interior of the switch and I think you'll find how to fix it. All I remember now is the joy I felt at NOT having to drop $100+ for a new switch!

I'd pay $100 for a good switch. I just wouldn't want to go through installing the damn thing again. What a pain in the *** it was! LOL
