I think Stephen listed most if not all the advantages - that's pretty good bang for the buck if you want a better handling and easier to tune car.
I not confused. I did all my own work in order to save as much money as possible. $2200 is still a lot of money to me...

No doubt the coil overs provide an easier way to adjust ride height and corner weights. Handling might be better as well since it's newer technology, but I don't think I've seen an advertisment yet for a set of front and rear coil overs for a 930. They all seem to be for later model cars. What's interchangable?

Exactly who sells them and how much are they?

A set of four torsion bars and Bilsteins will run you $1260 from Performance Products (and we all know how expensive they are) so they could be had cheaper. Adj spring plates are $380.

If I was starting with a clean slate, I would be inclined to look at them, but not right now.

Also, do they take up any more room in the wheel well than shocks/struts causing tire/wheel issues?

The coil over system for the 930 are based on the RSR race cars back in the 70s. Many place sells them like Stephen, Smartracing Products and TRG.

Here is a pic of my front and rear coil overs. As far as I can tewll there is no difference in the amount of space needed.

Stephen... would this imply that you don't use sway bars once you go to coilovers?

It depends on the driver and year of the car. 86 on not normally they used a bigger sway.

One additional thing that wasn't completely clear to me thru this thred is whether or not you want to keep your tbars with coilovers. I know it was pointed out that the 935s ran both but what is the preferred set up for our cars.

No torsions with the coilovers. Sorry for not being clear.

No apologies necessary... thanks for the time and info... I may be giving you a call regarding a coilover purchase.

How much weight do you add by going to a coilover set up? What other parts are needed besides threaded body shock and spring? Are the shocks adjustable in both compression and rebound or do you just get a suggested valving? I would think this system would be a zillion times easier to corner balance and set ride height. My Spec Racer Ford is threaded coilover and it it very easy to corner weight and set ride height for different tracks, I do it before every race weekend.

Actually you reduce weight. How much I do not have in front of me. Coil over to shock they are the same weight ir lighter, the springs weigh less than the torsion bars. We are not talking about a huge difference maybe 10 lbs for the total kit.
