Default Choosing a spacer for new wheels?

I just received my new(used) 18" Kinesis for my 1986 930. They are 11 and 8". Doing some measurements, the offsets appear to be 35mm rear and 45mm front. They both fit fine but I will need spacers in the front to push it out further for appearance. I plumed a line hanging from the fender down across the face of the rims and in the front I have about 1.2 inches between the hanging plum line and the lip of the rim. I am thinking a 1" spacer to push the outermost part of the rim to a bit short of the plum line. Do any of you run beyond the plane of the fender to the ground? How much? The rears are fine with the factory spacer and they fill the wheel well out nicely. Less than 1/2" from a plum line to the lip of the rim, not the tire.
