A good friend has asked me to look at a car with him. He's described it as a factory slantnose 89 RUF (with a RUF V.I.N). Low mileage - under 30K. One owner with no stories.

How can we tell if this is a legit car? Does the RUF V.I.N. have some special identifiers? Are there other things I should look for on the car? Is this a special one?

I've reviewed some posts on how to distinguish a factory slant from a conversion but didn't come across anything on the RUF variant.

Call Hans Hoffman (214-269-1572) at the Ruf Autocentre in Dallas. Give him the VIN and he will have Germany verify the VIN and provide whatever other info they have record of.

Thanks for the info. I sent RUF in Dallas an e-mail and they've already responded with the V.I.N coding and a few things to look for. Very quick response. i'll try to post some pictures later this week. Thanks!
