I just received my B&B intercooler for my 88 turbo. Are there any tricks or advies I need to know before I start turning screws? It looks like bolt on and shut the deck lid ? ? ? Thanks, in advance, Mark

I had to remove the decklid shroud in the tail...fits around the OEM intercooler when it's closed. Just a few screws and it comes out. I think it's made of plastic. The lid wouldn't close with it attached.

Undo everything. Swap the sensors and bracket that attaches to the coil. You will need to swap the stud as well. Remove the upper plastic shroud on the deck lid and install the new cooler. You may need to leave the hard rubber spacer out of the down pipe and thats it. The rest is a direct bolt on with no issues. If you get stuck call us.

OK, here is the story of my install. I removed the factory IC. I used the two red gaskets on the upper tube (small and outer larger one), but had to remove the metal "long" washer that fit between the two rubber "bumper" spacers on the upper tube mounting flange. On the lower "down" tube, I did not replace the larger, outer black gasket (as Steven requested), but I did use the red smaller gasket. Everything else worked well, with the exception the upper tube bolt was not fitting because the B&B IC mounting flange was not milled out and the larger washer hung up on the IC body. I ground off one side of the washer and had to remove the inner "metal sleeve" that is held in place between the washers (it was too long and the IC would not snug down on the car's mounting bracket). I was able to snug down the B&B, but the upper tube "rubber bumper" gaskets squrited out a bit, but the IC was snug ans both tube gaskets seemed snug and air tight.

It seems to look mechanically sound. Any remarks??

Its hard to follow your description when you talk about "lower down tubes" etc....

I am visual guy....so without pics...I cannot comment, however...take the car for a test drive peg the throttle in 3rd gear and see if you get your 0.8 bar or what ever your wastegate spring is set at....ir see if you have a leak, easy to tell - the boost gauge will peak and then start creeping down and of course the car will not feel as quick.

I have done the B&B on my car several times and its easy, so I am sure you have it installed properly.

Stephen, I removed the plastic deck lid, but did NOT replace it with the B&B plate. Is this needed? Also, I did swap the stud on the rear mounting (down tube) bracket, but I did not see any need to remove the censors. Well, do you mean the "snap-in" wire plugs that rest under the IC?
I will call you today before I run the car.

You don't have to, but I would. It is there to force air over the intercooler, not around it.

I have the B&B intercooler and after seeing the Koklen the Koklen it is a better built product.

I think the Kokeln flows more, but there was a reason why Stephen at IA stopped carying them...not sure what it was. I agree it does look (on the surface...aesthetically) better.
