BOV-Whooooosh question

I haven't personally, but my mechanic had a temperary 02 sensor wired up to the car when he was tuning it in. I know on 1.2 bar my a/f is rich up to top end when it leans out to around 14:1, I just took his word for it and its been fine ever since. If I quit spending money on sport bikes and ever get around to getting Stephen's or Geoffery's EFI kit I'm deffinatly wiring up a permanet 02 sensor.

Bottom line is the plate will flutter and drop between shifts. You can run it for a while. You can not run a BOV if you want....for a while. At the end of the day there will be a cost. It just depends on how long you want things to last. The data calculated was not a guess and unfortunately while you do not have problems now, you risk and issue every time you drive the car.

OK so is the bov the same as the waste gate?

No, the wastegate bleeds off exhaust to slow the spool of the turbo down. The BOV or pop off valve bleeds off pressurized air from the pressure side (intake side) The BOV is there to prevent the turbo from stalling. When you throttle off the gas the turbo still is producing boost. It takes a second to stop. If you close the throttle body then the air runs down the pipe after smacking the throttle plate and hits the turbo. It causes it to stall hence destroying the seals. The BOV vents that air to prevent that from happening.

The wastegate controls the level of boost.

Nope, the waste gate is actually attached to the exhaust under the car and dumps spent exhaust gases once the pressure exceeds whatever the BAR spring (inside the waste gate) happens to be i.e.: .7, .8, 1.0, etc. or if you're using a boost controller (manual or electronic) whatever you have dialed in. Obviously this is a highly simplified explanation.

Can you give me, err...I mean donate to me one of your efi systems? Its for a good cause, and it'll lessen the chance of my baby visiting you for a complete re-rebuild in the future.

I would buy one but my R1 needed a set of FCR flat slides and an ohlins rear shock for my trackday this weekend.
