Does anyone use a turbo oil cooler?
My car came with an oil cooler between the oil supply on the engine and turbo. It's the finned cylindrical type of cooler. Is this thing actually doing any good? It adds a lot of oil line to the system which I could clean up and shorten with new lines.

I doubt it's doing much, especially with it's location near the engine.
The one from Eagle Day or Perf Prod is probably doing very little as well. I don't see the oil in the finned tube being in there long enough for much heat ransfer to take place.
But it does all add up I suppose...

Here's a couple pics of the cooler. I don't have any pics of it mounted, but it was mounted against what would be the outside of the frame or engine craddle in the left rear wheel well.

Just because I levitate my car to remove the engine does not mean I'm a witch. I just don't know how you Muggles do it.
Happy Thanksgiving all, I'm off to see the family. Hopefully I can come back early and get back on the engine project.

Any device that does not cause a pressure drop and does help cool the oil, is always a help. The critical concern is the cost per BTU of drop. Since you already own it the cost is not a factor. Also, being in the wheel well would make it more like;y to actually help cool the oil. Oil coolers in the engine bay are not very effective because of the ambient heat.

The most effective oil cooler is the one in the front right fender. Far cooler air getting to it. You may want to evaluate the contribution that additional hardware is doing for your cooling. I would almost say that it would contribute very little, but as you live in Texas every little bit of cooling potential has to be investigated and exploited!
