I own 2 V1 my wife would not leave home without it but for stealth the K40 is built in so what are your thoughts.

I pulled an older K40 out of my 930 when I bought it in favor of my V1. I think (and it isn't substantiated) that a lot of K40s attractiveness relates to the stealth mount/install. Never seen a comparo though.

The V1 is going to be pretty difficult to beat or even come close to in a scientific and technical testing environment.
What would be the ultimate is the technical capability of the V1 combined with the stealthiness of the K40. Can you imagine how deadly that would be? I bet there are some savvy techs/ car audio tech nuts out there who can take that V1 and safely dismantle it so that you could permanently mount it in the dash like a K40.
Of course, once you do this, you'll lose the portability factor. BTW, I do have a K40 installed in my 930. I surprisingly discovered this AFTER I drive the car back from across the Country. After returning to Maryland, I happen to be going for a cruise when I noticed the infamous ****-in-a-**** under the dash. I turn the thing and three lights lit up on the dash that I didn't even notice before. Hot damn, it's like Christimas in February kids!!!!!!!!!

that is a fantastic surprise. BTW in New York where I sold Mercedes there was a shop we used and they did dismantle and install the V1 both in the rearview mirror and in the dash of almost all our cars especially the SL. the V1 does offer a remote mount for display.
