Replacement Front Rotors

Replacement Front Rotors
I need replacement front rotors--'86 930-- and I can't find anything but the OEM Zimmerman's. I'm running the stock 16" wheels with new rubber so I hate to go to bigger wheels to be able to go Brembo. Anybody got any suggestions.
Second question: Any favorites on pads for aggressive street?

Do you want stock rotors? If so, I would go with the factory rotors. I've tried OEM aftermarket and they just don't hold up.
If you want to upgrade, then I would go with the Big Reds if you are tracking it. Otherwise it's just over kill for the street IMHO. The stock brakes are very good.
Pagid pads are expensive: $200 Orange -$275 Black.
Performance Friction run about $125 for the 97 compound.
These might be too agressive for the stret though.

OEM Zimmerman
Do you mean that anything other than an OEM rotor bought from a Porsche dealership did not hold up well. I have heard that the Zimmerman rotors sold on the aftermarket are the rejects that are not good enough to be bought by Porsche.

My understanding is that just because something is OEM doesn't mean it the same as the factory. It just means the original supplier made it. The quality and specs might not be up to the same standards as Porsche.
Lots of rotors are drilled vs. cast like the factory rotors. Ever time I tried OEM rotors, they just didn't hold up compared to factory.

Hi Jim:
You are right in some cases and one must carefully choose components, however in this case a Zimmerman is a Zimmerman, no matter where you get it.....
Having used Zimmerman's from Dealers and my German suppliers since 1978, neither one lasts any longer than the other. Both are well made rotors that are simply softer than other brands.
Just my personal experience tho,.........
