Default 79 turbo on ebay

Item # 4534606041. Ice blue exterior blue interior. I remember the car being sold at a dealer up in New York about 9 months ago. Then I saw it for sale again. Now for sale for third time in less than a year. Does anyone know anything about this car? Seems that whomever buys it does not keep it very long. represented as only 9500 miles.

Always has sold for mid 40s. Seems to me that their must be a problem with the car or it's provenance to be bounced around so much for a actual low mile 79 turbo?

George, unique well thats one word for it. What color red is that quite sharp?

The 79 looks like Horizon Blue to me, could be wrong not a complementing interior though. With such few miles the thing probably needs work, rubber must be dry and seals well? I have spoken to numerous people that have bought low mileage 930's thinking they were getting a new car only to find out the car needed serious $$ to make it useable. Probably the case here.

George:

OMG! The interior - what is the story behind that? Strangely, I am both attracted and repulsed at the same time.

There is one thing that bothers me about this car - the way the driver's side corner of the front hood lifts away from the rubber smile.

From my experiance the older cars sometimes had these issues. Normally nothing more than an adjustment but you make a good point may be worth a closer look.

The first owner was an antique furniture dealer. He specified the brick red paint "Ziegelrot" with the olive green leather. Could be color to sample but I'm not sure. They were not the main selling points, though. The sport chassis, prepared engine (the PO raced at Le Mans), LSD, no sunroof, no AC were the interesting points, along with 40K miles at the time. The color was a welcome bonus. I prefer unusual colors for unusual cars (my M5 looks like a wedding candy...)

Forgot to mention: the warped front lid is quite usual when the front height rubbers are misadjusted, too high. The lid needs straightening, basically bending it back in shape. Esay.

BTW, the official color for that car is Petrol Blue. Paint code is 371 (I believe). I'll have to look it up. Reason I know? My 79 930 is Petrol Blue. The factory also refers to it as Light Metallic Blue. It's a great color.

The car is Light Blue metallic, paint code 301. Petrol Blue metallic is paint code 376. Petrol Blue is a deeper blue but similar. Both colors were standard colors in 1979.

The hood could be a simple adjustment. Maybe they had to adjust it to accomodate a two piece bra.

The car appears to still have the thermal reactors on it. Whoever buys the car should remove them asap.

When I purchased my '79 930 it had 2600 original miles. The problem with buying a very low milage early car is all the factory recomended updates(getting rid of the thermal reactors or changing the exhaust system all together, chain tensioners, upgrading oil cooler) as well as all of the other mechanical issues that stem from inactivity. Some issues may not show up at first, but as you start driving the car and things start moving other issues may arise. It does add up very quickly.

I wonder why this car is at a Pontiac dealership?

Hey Guys...I am glad there is so much interest in my car...I purchased it from AutoSport Design, Huntington Station, NY in Late January for a client of mine who literally buys a different car every month from me. He liked this car....for a month...and then moved on to a 1984 Ferrari 512BB. I must refute the concerns about the condition of this car. It is a 90+ point car that doesn't need much to get it to 100 points. If you have specific questions or would like more detailed photos, please feel free to ask me....it's easier than wading through all the BS that some want-a-be's like to spread on this revered website. You will not find a cleaner, more cared for, more original '79 930 for this price anywhere! Thank you. Toby
